Brief Anniversary
The other day, while at Tim Horton's. I heard a couple of older men talking. One was talking about the anniversary celebrations he and his wife had just celebrated. The other man asked how long they had been married, The reply was: "This was our 62nd Anniversary". The astounded gentleman replied: "Well, that didn't take long, did it? Only 60 seconds". In the 1960's, when my wife was nursing at the old Sanitorium, the wards were not numbered, but listed alphabetically. One Friday afternoon, when leaving for the weekend, she spoke to another nurse (who had difficulty with proper placement of the letter "h"), and asked where she was working nest week. She replied: "I was on 'ho' this week, but I am going to 'hel' next week". Orville Cole, Dartmouth, NS
