Women Making Fish
When we think about fishing we think about men
But the fairer sex too played their part back then
Making fish was their forte on flakes all day long
Always together and quite often in song

In full dress and apron so stately they looked
Just goes to show they not only cooked
But that too was a forte when not on the flake
As witness the fine loaves of bread on the bake

Their talents were many no doubt about that
Without them at dances we were sure to be flat
So here's to the females we so fondly admire
And so long to see in their colorful attire

A little ditty about the role of fisherwomen in making fish, among other things.

John Cornick
Halifax, Nova Scotia Submitted By: John Cornick
