When the Past is the Present!
Come with me my friend and lets see what is hiding behind Door Number One.
Door Number One in this case is what is hidden in the Cobwebs of my mind.
Here I sit on a fine warm sunny morning in beautiful Costa Rica viewing Old
Photos that I have taken in bygone days around Witless Bay on the Grand Old
Southern Shore.
I have a fairly sharp memory and I like to ramble on about 1978 and perhaps
1981.The problem is being grounded in the Present.I mean it is Beautiful here
and we have had one tour and plans to go on a Couple more.Rented a Golf Cart
to take us three Couples around Town.Roads are like the Salmonier Line in Summer
but with more Stray Dogs. The Sister In-Law Laura usually cooks us all a Big Breakfast and She is a fine Chef.Cards during the day and a sit by the Pool
Then we go out to Dinner(Supper). We have a Balcony outside our Room with
Howler Monkeys sitting in a tree outside our place and wake us up at 5am.We don’t mind as we are Early Risers anyway.Lola and Myself like to sip our Morning Coffee
out there.
The thing about living in the past is life is passing by quickly and we may deprive
ourselves of what is happening in the Present.I have been fortunate to have a good life. It is nice to stay in fancy tourist places and I am also aware of the poverty around me.Feel very grateful to be a Canadian with Ice,Snow and All.
I have been retired for almost nine years now.Threw in the towel at 60 once my Veteran’s Pension indexed. It is important to have a hobby when retired. If only for the sake of a Conversation piece.Myself I am happy to look after the house while Lola is at work and even when she is home.I learned how to Cook in the Military.I like Cooking and our son who is 36 lives with us is a fine Cook as well.We have two small dogs to keep me Company and we get our daily walks in.I am a fairly low energy person. It suits me fine to sit back in the Recliner and stare at my Computer Screen.
Lola works Part time as a Mental Health Nurse and gets five days off in a Row.Lola is more the Social type and have friends and family over to play Cards.I believe it is just an excuse for me to do a Cleaning job like I am preparing for Admirals Rounds.
I retired from the Military 25 years ago after serving 21 Years and it is still steeping into my Conversations. We are taking a Big tour tomorrow. So today it is relaxing by the Pool. That is all for now.
