Waking Up Dead
Waking Up Dead

Tomorrow morning when you wake up
You might very well be dead, so to say
Now that is what the wife said to me
When we were conversing about my health today

It took a while for it to sink in
For at my age I am slow to respond
But thinking about it in retrospect now
I see it is really an oxymoron

But anyway I know what she meant
So that is the important thing here
She meant to look after ones health
And that to me is now quite clear

So that I will do so to catch on early
And not be forever left behind
For it is important not to let
Myself reach that very sad state of mind

John Cornick
Halifax, Nova Scotia

Submitted By: John Cornick
