Voices in the Wilderness
Voices in the Wilderness

We are sometimes without a doubt
Lone voices in a wilderness
When we feel deeply and need to express
Those views held deeply within our breast

We are the poets writing in seclusion
In isolation and utterly alone
But the impulse is there and cannot be repressed
Everything coming to mind must be expressed

And if as a result of that expression
There arises discussion both for and against
At least it is out there for all to see
And a chance to engage for both you and for me

The poets of old, those philosophers of yore
Spent much of their time so engaged every day
But these days its not a thing we all do
Methinks that is something one day we will rue

John Cornick
Halifax, Nova Scotia

Submitted By: John Cornick
