Treasury of Newfoundland Stories
Hi Ron: I was just browsing through my collection of NL Books and came upon a book entitled “Treasury of Newfoundland Stories” published back in 1961 by Maple Leaf Mills Ltd. It is a collection of short stories and poems submitted by various Newfoundlanders from all parts of the island and edited by the well known NL historian L.W. Janes. I specially treasure it because it describes a way of life in NL back over half a century ago, and now lost to posterity. The flavour of the “ways that were’ is faithfully recorded in these writings For any of your readers interested in our NL history I highly recommend reading them. The book is long since out of print, but thankfully the folks at the genealogy site “Newfoundland’s Grand Banks” (http://ngb.chebucto.org/Articles/treasury.shtml) have reproduced them there for all to read. Good on them! John Cornick Halifax, Nova Scotia Submitted By: John Cornick
