The Web of Life
Web of Life
In the grand scheme of things
As from biological to cosmological levels we ebb
The fundamental patterns are always the same
At the base of it all is the web
At the biological level the genome
Arranged as a web in the species, recall
With DNA moving back and forth between genomes
Producing change, the fundamental principle behind it all
Similarly at the cosmological level, the galaxies
Are arranged as a web in the cosmos, so true
And it seems, to extend the analogy
There may be movement between galaxies too
Which one day may likely be proven
And if so is one further step tall
To explaining our place in the cosmos
And the time and space of it all
The classical Darwinian theory has as its base the principle of the tree of life. Recent work seems to suggest that rather than a tree, life is a web with constant flow of genomes between species. As an extension of this principle, at the cosmological level, galaxies are similarly arranged in web patterns in the universe. It is not too far fetched then to think that there may also be interconnection between galaxies which may be proven sometime in the future.
