The Waves
The Waves
The waves reach out to meet me
As I lie on this lone stony beach
A story they have to pass to me
With a lesson I so long for to teach
For I have learned lessons aplenty
And wisdom I've gained by the ton
During a lifetime through which I have passed
And believe me it was fun on the run
The waves speak of vast ocean spaces
And there but for the Grace of God go I
For I've spent many a year in your bosom
And now long to rest ashore when I die
The stars they shine brightly upon us
From vast reaches of space they do gleam
And we as minute beings in the universe
Long to live ashore in our dream
The waves sing of an omnipotent creator
Endowed with a power so great
Able to change the course of time
All in one short time's spate
Here by my campfire's light
Curled up in my blanket so tight
I'm in awe of the world around me
And aware that the world is alright
