The Thread of life <br /> <br /> The thread of life it is ebbing<br /> The lumbering white monarch is begging<br /> To find an ice mass to bear his weight<br /> But non is available, none to date<br /> <br /> His soul mate follows, life ebbing too I guess<br /> What has happened to cause all this distress<br /> The ice is receding leaving bears so needing<br /> Solid ice to sustain their breeding<br /> <br /> Solid ice thats so needed<br /> For the mating to be ceded<br /> Cannot be found to sustain the proud breed<br /> Oh please God do stop this perilous greed <br /> <br /> Global warming is numbering our days<br /> Will we ever realize the error of our ways<br /> This proud monarch of the North at last<br /> May soon be only a beast of the past<br /> <br /> The thought brings a stream of tears to my eyes<br /> Welling up that I cannot disguise<br /> Our hearts go out and give us fond craving<br /> For another species that cries out for saving <br /> <br /> Sad sad the day, my heart is breaking<br /> And for those who try its a hard undertaking<br /> To prevent this from happening in our lifetime<br /> We should throw these proud monarchs a welcome lifeline<br /> <br /> <br /> John Cornick<br /> Halifax, Nova Scotia<br /> <br /> <br />   Submitted By: John Cornick
