The Crown Jewel Awakens, My Newfoundland & Labrador Home
The Crown Jewel Awakens, My Newfoundland & Labrador Home
The blanket made of winter white now slowly peels away,
To reveal the scent of freshened earth and birth of a new day.
The crocus emerges boldly to meet the warming light,
As the sun moves north to heat the land and banish winter’s night.
God’s crown jewel in the universe begins to feel the glow,
As golden rays reach upward where the northern waters flow.
The evergreens take a long-awaited drink of gentle rain,
To find their vibrant summer green and come alive again.
From Mother Nature’s bouquet, the sweet-smelling flowers rise,
Like Easter lilies, mums, and orchids under softening skies.
Peonies, pansies, and violets blue all join the verdant scene,
With baby’s breath and bachelor buttons tucked in ferns of green.
Even the humble, persistent weeds are proud to find their way,
To touch the surface of the soil and feel the sun’s warm ray.
It is a time of new beginnings, a life for all reborn,
Through seeds of faith or waking from a sleep that was forlorn.
Deep within the earth’s own belly, the many insects stir,
Leaving places of their hiding as the world begins to whir.
The winter birds depart their posts for retreats further north,
While travelers from the southern sun come boldly flying forth.
The migrating flocks return again for a summer-long vacation,
While animals find their freedom in the beauty of creation.
With new births in the forest and the strength to wander far,
They follow trails of budding growth beneath the morning star.
The humans plant the seeds of life across the fertile farms,
And tidy up their properties with spring’s inviting charms.
With coats of paint and flower beds, they make their houses bright,
To capture every ounce of joy and summer’s golden light.
The onslaught of the season brings a thrill to every soul,
As anticipation of the heat begins to take control.
From the sturdy Sportage on the road to the garden’s quiet bloom,
There is a leap of savings and a light that fills the room.
Dedication: To the resilient spirit of the North, where the turning of the season brings a rebirth of hope and the promise of a golden summer.
