Slum Children
Slum Children When I first saw this old picture of a slum area in St. John’s I was taken by the poor housing conditions under which people in that area were living. On further examination I was surprised by the appearance of the two children in the left of the photograph. They looked so unexpectedly well dressed. Now that I reflect back on those days I do remember that to be the case. Although living under those squalid conditions the mothers of these children always made sure the kids were well dressed. In spite of their condition there was still an innate sense of pride. John Cornick Halifax, Nova Scotia Submitted By: John Cornick
