Rooms <br /> <br /> In days of yore <br /> Along our shore<br /> The many rooms<br /> They proudly bore<br /> The product of our fishermen's toil<br /> <br /> From fishing boats on watery soil<br /> No matter the weather, out there to toil<br /> On storm tossed waters oh so deep<br /> Far far from shore, out there to moil<br /> For finned rewards from the oceans depths<br /> <br /> These sturdy structures were working bases<br /> Built to withstand the harshest cases<br /> Of foulest weather, wind and rain<br /> And often perched in most precarious places<br /> Close to the shore and so easily accessed. <br /> <br /> Why named rooms, the reason's clear<br /> Cause they spent most of their time out there<br /> Making their fish from morning to night<br /> They worked hard at it that is clear<br /> In southwester and oil skins duds of the trade<br /> <br /> <br /> As you watched them work free of care<br /> One wondered how they could work out there<br /> But that they did was a wondrous thing<br /> Without being constantly in a sate of fear <br /> And for that we hold them in highest esteem<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> John Cornick<br /> Halifax, Nova Scotia<br />   Submitted By: John Cornick
