On the longest day of the year (June 21st, 2026) we visited the most northerly point in continental Europe, North Cape, Norway. My Mom, Gloria Hurley always travels with a Downhomer to have her photo taken with or to pass on to fellow travellers who might be interested in Newfoundland.

This particular day the sun never set and it also happened to be Father’s Day.

Nordkapp is 307 meters above the Arctic Ocean, so we encountered wind, fog, rain, hail and snow to get this picture taken. Returning to the cruise port in Honnigsvag it was sunny and 10 degrees. Gotta love Mother Nature.
