When we visited Marystown on our staycation in June of 2018, a local server recommended we visit Tidal Cove or Tidal Point, it was beautiful and a good spot to possibly see whales....we were sold. We continued on to our hotel in Burin and the reception lady gave us the local version of directions (turn left at Appleby's, go to the cemetery and turn on the dirt road...lol, I love this island), she also said we might even see sheep and goats! So off we went on our adventure, and we actually found the exit following her directions quit easily, we bumped and jumped our way along the dirt road for quite aways, we missed the "exit" for the cove and kept along the road to an unknown destination. It finally climbed and ended at the lighthouse and surprise some random goats munching and napping! Cool, we thought, lower the power windows, take some snaps...hell I'll turn off the vehicle, get out and meet the natives...lol! This is where it went sideways! My friends were still in the SUV, and one had some bananas in the back seat, she thought she'd make friends with nature and kindly peeled a banana and offered it to the largest goat. She enjoyed it immensely and immediately wanted more, so she peeled another....now the goat was turning into an ape, and had acquired a real taste for bananas...she proceeded to jump up on 2 hooves and attempt to climb into the backseat with my friend to get the rest of her bananas! Between howling with laughter, panicked cries of "oh sh*t...my paint job," and failed attempts of prying the goats hooves out of the suv, my friends managed to pass me a banana through the passenger window (I was outside the vehicle with the keys this entire time), so I could lure the goat out with the thing she wanted most! I then made a run for it and threw the keys into the ignition to get the windows up before she came back! I backed up and headed back to the cove we had missed the first time....all the way down we continued to laugh hysterically at our experience...even when we encountered a VERY baritone sheep...we absolutely died! Needless to say it was a highlight of our trip, even as we continued to get goat hair out of the suv a few days later and I now have to buff hoof scuffs off my door!
