Poor You
The wife she laid it on me
This morning just at dawn
I was kidding about our long lives together
And how I had sacrificed, which made her yawn
So I reminded her jokingly of all the times
I went out of my way to meet her needs
She instantly replied in a jocular tone
Of how her heart so for me bleeds
I often hear her say Poor You
When Im feeling sorry for myself
And to keep me grounded she reminds me
I am acting like a selfish elf
Spoiled rotten so she justly says
Since married fifty five years ago bye
But hey we're still together I remind her
Must be some shred of good in this old guy

I penned this humorous little self effacing ditty to remind me why keeping one's sense of humour is so important in preserving a marriage.
