Picnics 1929 Style
Picnics 1929 Style

This old photo, taken in 1929, shows my parents, Cyril Cornick (Rear Right) & Olive Smith Cornick (Front Right) of St Johns, before their marriage and while on a picnic outing with friends George Smith (Rear Left), Jean Cowan (Front Left), and Mildred Cornick (Front Center). George and Mildred were my Aunt and Uncle. Jean's husband, Ian Cowan, took the picture. They are gathered around their vehicle which is adorned with tree branches. Note the breeches, neck ties and knee length stockings on the ladies, fashionable sportswear at the time. Obviously enjoying themselves. I believe Ian's family owned Cowans Farm, originally located on what is now Cowan Avenue.

John Cornick
Halifax, Nova Scotia

Submitted By: John Cornick
