Old GrGrandfather Photo
Old Great Grandfather Photo

Here is a very old photo of my Great Grandfather, Frederick Charles Cornick (R), taken at St. Johns in the late 1800s.The gentleman to the left is unidentified. Frederick, along with his two brothers, Edwin and Reuben, immigrated to St Johns in the mid 1800 from Bridport, Dorset, to work as stonemasons on restoration of the Anglican Cathedral after one of the great fires. The photo appears to have been taken in a warehouse. The type of hat worn, vests, moustaches, watch chains and pipe smoking seemed in vogue at that time.

John Cornick
Halifax, Nova Scotia
Submitted By: John Cornick
