Ocean
It's going on seven years now that my husband brought me to live in this beautiful, always changing, yet ever-the-same province. While it is still difficult to be away from my family and friends in Ontario, I don't think that I could ever drag myself from here to go back there. There is something about living by the sea and forest that slows you down, and lets you breath. In your January 08 issue of Downhome, I spotted "Poetry Plea," written to Ron Young by Boyd Eddy of Garden Cove, NL, asking for more printed poetry. I had written a little my first winter in this magical place, but never mailed it to your magazine. I guess now is the time. I do not claim to be a great poet; it just feels good putting pen to paper. In the beauty of this land and sea, everyone can be a poet, maybe even me.
Ocean
Deep, Dark, Cool.
Black, Blue, White.
Strong, moving, Embracing.
Nurturing, Feeding, life.
Warm, Soothing, Calming.
Always on the go.
The tides come in.
The tides move out.
The moon shall let us know.
