Newfoundlander to the rescue
Newfoundlander to the Rescue

I read a heart warming story in the Nov 26, 2014 issue of Chronicle Hearld in Halifax. A sailing vessel the Amoeba, captained by John Bryson out of Beddeck NS, got into trouble in a severe storm off Sable Island on its way to Bermuda. High winds and 20 swells threatened to capsize the vessel. Fortunately one of Clearwater Seafoods fishing boats, the Concord, was nearby, and stood alongside until conditions improved, calling every hour to check on the progress of the stricken vessel. The Amoebas skipper never got the name of the captain of the rescue vessel, but he said, I knew he was a Newfoundlander right away. When I was talking to him he said Dont worry me son, it will be good. Typical Newfoundlander with salt in the blood.

Credit: The Chronicle Herald, Wed.
