Long Pond School, CBS (Circa 1904)
This photo was taken in the early 1900s (1904, we think) where St. George's Elementary now stands. The people had gathered to celebrate a school event and a photographer happened to drive by and ask would they like to have a picture taken. Even James Rideout's little dog (far right) got into the photo. The original picture belongs to Percy Greenslade of Long Pond who along with "Aunt Lenie Porter" (fourth row, second little girl) researched it and named every person! My grade five class made 11x17 copies of the photograph and sold them for $5 with all money going to our new school playground. Photos and a sheet identifying everyone is still available. Barbara Moores, Grade 5 teacher, St. George's Elementary. Submitted By: Barbara Moores
