Gentle Giant
Gentle Giant
Oh how I love the gentle giant
A massive friendly creature no doubt
When one sees him for the first time
It makes you want to shout
His name is aptly chosen
And fits him to a T
And if you are an owner of one
You understand of what I see
Of an animal of such a large size
You would not expect such docility
But that's what makes him so endearing
His freedom from any hostility
An ancient dog from long ago
Brought to our shores as a working breed
Has stood the test of time no doubt
Always there in times of need
And down through history he was noted
For saving lives along treacherous shore
And for that very reason
We love him all the more
And when I refer to a working animal
There is no doubt he excels
And can outperform any horse
As anyone who knows will tell
Pulling sleds of wood in winter
Over frozen lakes so white
And in summer when so needed
Doing chores from morn to night
The breed has a devoted following
Literally all over the world
And when one speaks of that brave dog
One peaks of courage and bravery unfurled
