Doctor Dave
Doctor Dave
The valiant struggle’s over now
Cancer has taken our beloved friend
The great exuberance for life now stilled
The energy and drive right to the end
For his dedication to family, friend, and patient
His love of native wild foods preserved
His unbending generosity and love of cottage
And fishing his passion so well served
Steeped in his native island tides
Remembered for constant rocking chair rides
His favourite song “Saltwater Joys”
Brought interest to all things “Newfie” wise
So rest in peace good Doctor Dave
And may your banner gently furled
Remind us of your time with us
And thanks for sharing with us your world
This poem is dedicated to our very good friend who was taken from us at far too early an age.
