Born Too Late
Born Too Late
At times we may feel we were born too late
When we go back to visit our ancestors out there
And find our interests more in tune with their day
It then becomes obvious that something's at play
And that something is, as we now know
That we were born too late, so to say
And we wish to transport ourselves back there
And live forever in that far off day
A mood of frustration may be upon us
When we find ourselves feeling this way
Cause we are living in a dream
And not in the present day
But the gap between those times and now
Is really only an illusion
Only memories are what really count
And their recall is at our choosing
Those gay old days in my mind come and go
As I go in the present from day to day
I take pleasure from these precious images
And relish them as I may
Some say we are reliving a second life
When this often happens to us
But I'm not sure that's the case
When we ask the question thus
If we could transport ourselves back there
To that awesome rare old time
Whether we would choose to stay
Is a question that should be top of mind
So choose wisely my dear old friend I say
For that decision may close your fate
And you may find you're left out there
In a somewhat muddled state
But if things do seem muddled
At least you'll be happy to be
In a time and place that seems
To leave you in utter ecstasy
