Bogger in You
Bogger on You

Remember that old English phrase
Often by us kids so well understood
When playing follow the leader
In our old favourite neighbourhood

A dangerous feat like crossing a stream
By stepping on rocks and not falling between
The game we all played was enjoyed by us all
So important we do it without a fall

And the hills around would echo
With our calls to come and compete
I got a bogger on you
Is a phrase we would often repeat

And so it was in days of old
As kids engaged in frolic and fun
Oblivious to the dangers therein
All day long we were wont to run

Today the kids entertain themselves
With exercises purely of the brain
Through electronic fantasies on computers
Really not meant to physically entertain

What changes can we now expect
To see in future generations cast
For sure the grand old game of boggers
Is lost to antiquity, a thing of the past

John Cornick
Halifax, Nova Scotia

Submitted By: John Cornick
