A message for all you Islanders
Here's a message for all you islanders
wherever you may roam,
don't ever forget how proud you are
of the place that you call home
If you're headed up to Ontario,
or going to work out west
Always try to keep in your heart,
the place that you love best
Don't ever change the way you speak,
just remain the way you do
Be proud that you're an islander,
and let everyone know that too.
Keep your Newfoundland ways about you,
wherever you may go.
And if you meet up with a fellow islander,
shake his hand and say "hello."
Have the courage to stand tall,
work hard for your pay
and sometimes try to lend a helping hand.
Every islander carries deep within him,
the pride of Newfoundland.
If you find yourself lost in the crowd,
you're still all alone and you've taken all you can.
Just smile and think of
the place called home,
the place called Newfoundland.
So if you ever go away,
don't ever plan to stay.
You'll be heart broken if you do.
Just remember the porch light will always be on
and Newfoundland will wait for you.
