Pastry Apple
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp cloves
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1 pkg ready-made pie crust
4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
Egg wash (1 egg whipped with 2 tbsp milk or water) - opt.
Preheat oven to 350°F. Mix sugar, spices and cranberries together. Roll out pie crust to about 1/8" and cut into quarters. Place an apple in the centre of each piece of pastry and fill apple centre with sugar mixture. Bring the corners of the pastry up around the apple to fully enclose it. Dab the edges with water to make them stick together. Trim away excess crust to make the pastry look like an apple. Brush with egg wash if desired. Repeat for other three apples. Bake in a shallow dish for 30-40 minutes. The apples should be soft.
