Melt-in-your-Mouth Shortbread Cookies

1 cup butter
1 1⁄2 cups flour
1⁄2 cup icing sugar
18 maraschino cherries, cut in half

18 maraschino cherries, cut in half
Combine all ingredients except cherries; beat for a full 10 min. Drop from teaspoon onto cookie sheet. Decorate with maraschino cherry halves. Bake for about 14-17 min. at 325ºF until bottoms are lightly browned (keep checking during baking). Makes 36 small cookies.
