Caramel Sauce

3/4 cup brown sugar
1 cup boiling water
1 1/4 tbsp cornstarch
2 tbsp cold water
1 1 tbsp vanilla
tbsp butter

Melt brown sugar in pot with boiling water. Mix cornstarch with cold water to form paste; add to hot mixture. Boil 5 - 10 minutes over low heat until mixture begins to thicken. Add vanilla and butter. For a sufficient amount of sauce, it is best to double the recipe.
