Durrell Museum & Brigade Artisan Shoppe
The Durrell Museum sits high atop a hill named “Old Maid”, where the view of icebergs, whales, sea birds, rugged coast lines, colorful painted houses, tour boats, fishermen bringing in their catch etc. takes your breath away!
The Durrell Museum houses exhibits of community artifacts from the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s depicting the culture and lifestyle of a typical fishing outport. The now historic building was once the Armoury for the paramilitary organization the Arm Lads Brigade. Exhibits on the Great Auk and the Polar Bear are a must see!
The Brigade Artisan Shoppe has a vibrant array of unique handcrafted items from the very talented Artisans of Newfoundland Labrador.
We carry an assortment of knitted items such as socks, mitts, hats, sweaters, slippers & blankets!
We stock our shelves with soaps, mugs, books, prints, pictures, sea glass jewelry & ornaments, wood carvings, pillows, pottery and so much more! Newfoundland Themed Quilts!
