Where were You??
Today you come to mourn
Today you say good - bye
You look down at my lifeless body
Then you begin to cry
Where were you when I needed you most?
When I still had all my senses
Sharing special moments
Letting go of all defenses
Where were you when I lay in this bed?
Unable to do for myself
Feeling so very useless
As an unread book on a shelf
Where were you when I watched the clock?
Ticking the time away
Waiting for a cheerful hello
Or, how are you feeling today
Where were you when I was ill?
And I felt like I would die
Nobody to say “it’ll be ok”
I just don’t understand why
But today you come to say good bye
Your words I cannot hear
It would have meant so very much
If you could have said them ….while I was still here
