Ron Young
“Serving Newfoundlanders wherever they may be.” That was the motto of The Downhomer Magazine when it was launched in 1988 by Ron Young, a native of Twillingate, NL, and a band of fellow expatriate Newfoundlanders living in Ontario. When he wasn’t covering his beat as a member of the Ontario Provincial Police, Ron was chasing down stories and snapping photographic evidence of the beauty of NL during his vacations “down home.” He brought the entire operation to NL when he retired from the police force in the late 1990s.
