Jackie Rice
“Downhome is a tourist destination. Visitors from all over the world drop in to get a taste of Newfoundland friendly faces and generosity that we’ve learned from our parents and grandparents.”
Jackie is a familiar face at the Downhome Shoppe. She befriends almost every customer and keeps in touch with many of them. Jackie loves to bake and spend time at the cabin in Tors Cove on the Southern Shore with her family. Her favourite Newfoundland and Labrador tradition is taking the kids to catch capelin when they roll, “It’s quite the site to see the astonishment on hundreds of faces when people witness the capelin roll.”
