A boy left home when very young,
To seek his fortune and fame,
He said I'll only be gone a few years,
But I'll be back again.

The years rolled by and
he grew old before he finally said,
I'm going back to see my family,
My home town and my friends.

He came back home but the town had changed.
Everything looked different to him,
His parents had passed away
A stone marked their resting place.

He asked a stranger on the street
where Johnny T. lived
The reply came back that he moved
away several years back.

You can't go back
Some friends had moved and some had died.
Others have kids that have grown
Everything changes
You can't go back
It's only childhood memories.
