Wooden Talent Is Part Of Our Heritage
At the school's heriage fair, my 11-year-old son decided to do his topic on wooden boat building of Newfoundland. He did this for two reasons. The first, being a Newfoundlander and proud of our heritage; secondly, because this dying tradition is a big part of our family's history. Master boat builder Henry Vokey is his great-grandfather and is well known in the province for his work and dedication. He won third place and is entering the regionals in Liverpool in May.
