As a Newfoundlander living in Toronto, I wanted to let Downhome readers know about a wonderful Newfoundland show which is coming to Toronto this April/May and a great opportunity for Newfoundland expats in Toronto to get together! Coming this April/May to Toronto's Factory Theatre is Newfoundland's own "Oil and Water", a theatrical retelling of the incredible true story of Lanier Phillips by Artistic Fraud of Newfoundland. A ten-person cast sings an a cappella score that blends the Newfoundland folk tradition with African-American gospel.
