Have you ever seen such a pristine sight?
Fresh snow fall, decorating the beautiful green trees
As the light from the sun glances off of every crystalline structure,
Playing on one's eyes, the forest almost emitting
An aura of heavenly, brilliantly glowing energy.

The land too is completely covered,
Lovingly wrapped and tucked
Under a white blanket of frost and snow,
Indistinguishable and camouflaged in an elegant optical illusion,
The features of the land become impossible to ascertain.

Movement of water now interrupted,
Save for a babbling hillside stream
Cascading over jagged, rocky cliffs
Producing long, thick candles
Of light-reflecting icicles.

The silence of this frozen, barren landscape
Is almost deafening to the ears,
Sporadic howls of nearby wolves on crisp, moonlit nights;
Hooting owls; crackling wood from the chilly air
Are the only audible indications that life can exist.

Nature in such a dramatic fashion
Hides her secrets well,
Yet visual cues dot the snow;
Tracks of foxes and rabbits, caribou and ptarmigan
Lend credence to the adaptation of nature's miraculous life cycle.

The splendor and awe of such a place
Can never be truly explained,
Nor can it ever be truly defined;
No words will ever be written or spoken
To display the magnificence of winter's embrace.

As long as mankind can perceive
Beyond the inhospitable environment
And concede to its beauty,
His yearning to tame the land of ice and snow
