Wilmore Williams was born in Triton on July 18, 1924 to Herbert and Selina (nee Simms) Williams. Although he was too young to enlist he was accepted as Seaman of the Merchant Navy at the age of 16. During his service he delivered war supplies from Newfoundland to the United States Seaboard. During one particular trip the ship was attacked by enemy torpedo and he lost all personal belongings. He returned home after the war, married Ida Oxford and raised their 3 children. Mr. Williams passed away in Springdale, NL   Submitted By: Justine (nee Vincent) Thomas
