In your July issue, it was nice to see the lighthouse where our family grew up (16 of us - eight boys eight girls). My grandfather built it. His name was Damase Beaudoin, from Montmagny Quebec. He took his family of six children to Newfoundland after receiving a contract from the Government of Canada in early 1900. Construction started in 1904 and the lighthouse went into operation around 1912. Damase was lightkeeper until 1925. He then turned the duty to my father, Aime Guy Beaudoin (who passed away in 1953.) Then my brother Edmond took over. Jerome (another brother) was hired as his assistant until late 1970, when Edmond was transferred to another station. Jerome became the last lighthouse keeper until it was upgraded to automation. It is now a coastguard weather station. But all of us in the Beaudoin family love to visit the grounds that bring back so many lovely memories.   Submitted By: NULL
