Some moments happen so quickly you can hardly believe you captured them. Watching this humpback whale breach off the coast of Bay Bulls was one of those unforgettable moments. Captured aboard an O’Brien’s Whale & Bird Tour, this incredible display of power and grace lasted only seconds but left a lasting impression. Every summer, humpback whales return to Newfoundland’s waters to feed, and I feel incredibly fortunate to have witnessed and photographed one of nature’s most spectacular displays.
