Whats in a Name

Whats in a Name

This pass summer, in July, my wife and I made our annual trek home to Newfoundland. Usually we just visit friends and relatives located in Port aux Basques and Burgeo. However, this time we decided to take a side trip to the Northern Peninsula. My wife had never visited that part of the province, and it had been years since my last trip there. Needless to say we were not disappointed. We had a wonderful few days. During our time there we visited as many communities as we could. We met some very friendly people, splurged on newfoundland food, such as wonderful seafood chowder at the restaurant at the lighthouse in St. Anthony. We also saw some fantastic scenery such as the icebergs in a little cove on the way to Lanse Au Meadows, the area around Rocky Harbour and others to many to mention here. We also passed through some little communities with curious names. However one stood out among all of the others. That being Nameless Cove.(photo Attached) As they say "only in Newfoundland". Friends have seen the photo and they, like us are curious to find out if there's a story behind the name. By the way we are long time subscribers to the Downhome and we love it. We always have a copy with us wherever we go. We had a copy with us when we visited Graceland and Nashville earlier this year.It keeps us in touch with "home" Walt & Carrie MacDonald Cornwall, PEI   Submitted By: Walter MacDonald
