Well-Weathered Lot
Whether the weather will change for the better,
Is always a topic we like to explore;
But you can’t keep the forecaster, dead to the letter,
Simply because he can never be sure!
Oft-times, it is iffy, but can turn, in a jiffy,
On us, as we are on the stormy east coast;
Where we can’t have our druthers,
Any more than choose brothers,
So the best thing to do is to take it and boast!
“Hardy folk” is one handle, one tries to pan-handle,
in a feeble attempt to describe who we are;
“weather-beaten” and “brawny” and, occasionally, “scrawny”,
and, more-often-than-not, can be found at some bar!
Inclined toward whimsy, where excuses are flimsy,
for not having a party or tying-one-on;
we’ll weather together, no matter the whether,
and drown all our sorrows in moonshine and song!
