My brother, Victor Davis, and his partner of 30 years, Marion, decided to tie the knot in a beautiful outdoor wedding at our ancestral salmon fishing place just a few miles west of Cartwright. My brother and younger sister were born on the spot where the wedding took place. The wedding took place on July 12, 2010, which also happened to be our late dad's birthday.
One of our favourite pastimes as children growing up here was to "root around" in the seaweed at low tide to catch tanzies. So my sister, Rosalie, and I decided to go "tanzie catchin'" right after the ceremony, in our formal wear. We also brought some of my grandchildren with us to show them how it's done. An old fashined kitchen party was held after the wedding at the local pub in Cartwright. It was an unusual and very beautiful wedding.
