We Remember
Lest we forget in days gone by
The Soldiers who fought for you and I
Many men died on that fateful day
To change the world where our children play
They fought for peace for all mankind
Many a widow for her husband pined
Their cannons rang out into the night
Foretold of the hardship and of the fight
They band together comrades all
For their country they stood so tall
Their homes and family where gone from sight
As they battled into the dark of night
They stood by the flag, lives not lost in vein
But still their loved ones cried out in pain
When the battle ceased and the fight ended at last
The men had made history, a part of our past
And so we remember on that special date
The men of our country who met their fate
November 11th marks a memorial day
As we silently remember in our own special way
Wreaths will adorn our statues of green
Who fought for our country they each had a dream
A red poppy pinned on a coat shows we care
And still more remember with a silent tear
Our ears hear the cannons, the sound of a boom
Our eyes see them growing the poppies that bloom
They blow in the wind as if whispering a thought
Saying "remember the soldiers, who for our lives fought"
