Here is a little something that happened to me during the WWII.  I was about 12 or 13yrs.old & there was an ad in the Evening Telegram saying that there was a movie going to start on Saturday afternoon. I think it was a movie with Judy Garland & Mickey Rooney...anyway ALL WAR ORPHANS were let in free.  I wanted to see all those kids, so my friend & I, Rose McNiven,  walked from Campbell Ave. to the Capital Theatre.  There was not one ORPHAN there. There were no war orphans in NFLD., sooooo I decided to walk by the ticket booth & see if I would be challenged. I was not. Rose chickened out(luv ya Rose).  When I returned home, I told my parents what I had done(big mistake). My dad told me that I had lied.  I said "So did they".  Didn`t make any difference,  I was grounded for about a week. Learned my lesson (never tell your parents about the things that you know are a no-no... wait until you are grown up & away from thier reach.
