Waftings
Through the branches of the spruce
Something wafted on the wind
Perhaps more a feeling or a sense
That something was afoot in time
And as I stood upon the hill
And looked across the valley to
The distant shoreline of the bay
I saw blue water in between
The pack ice and the barren shore
Created by the sou'west wind
And then I knew without a doubt
That what now wafted on the wind was spring
