I wrote the following back in the Spring of 1993:

Victoria Day In "Old" Grand Falls

Memories are a part of me
And, when I'm feeling down,
When springtime's comin' 'round.

Of the kids with whom I'd play
As we planned to get some fishin' in
Afternoon, Victoria Day.

How we'd pray
How we'd pack up lunch and gear
Just glad to get to fishin'
For another happy year!

We'd pray the Pageant would be short
To leave us lots of time,
To get up there, to Goodyear's Dam,
And dampen down our line.

Some years the trout were risin'
And, in others, they were not,
But always, in my mind, it seems,
Great numbers were well caught.

Some years we'd go in sunshine,
And, in others, it was snow
But the greatest thing of all was
At least we got to go!

To know again that freedom
To feel again that call,
I'd love to go for trout again
