Uncle Tom’s Model
Submitted December 2/2006 This boat was built by my uncle and godfather, Mr. Thomas Lahey. Uncle Tom was from Heart's Desire, now living in Chapel Arm for the past 36 years. This kind of sailboat was built from 1902, and fished on Grand Bank (codfish). This model is 26 inches long. Everything is built from scratch; even the Newfoundland flag is hand-made. Uncle Tom has been building make & brake engines, dories, longliners, punts, rodney's etc. for the last 40 years. He is 78 years old but very smart and young at heart. Just a visit to his house makes your worries go away. Submitted By: NULL
