Auntie Mavis,The Sauce Loving Queen!

How lucky was I in 72.I  was 14 going on 30

and had a regiment of Aunts and Uncles
that I could drop in on a daily basis for a visit.
Auntie Mavis was a fine looking older Woman
who dated my Uncle Dick.
Mavis was not my real Aunt. But I called her Auntie anyway.
When she moved in with my Uncle. She pulled him up by his Britches
and started making his House a Home.
Some women are really good with paint and Polish to make a Place
come to life.
Mavis hailed from CBS and used words such as Yes Maid and The Once
or Directly.
She had a wicked quick sense of humour and was a tad bit salty.
She was not a Catholic.I found that to be refreshing.only sweared when
She was on the Home Brew.
Uncle Dick drove a Truck for The Highways and would be at work.
So it was Mavis,Uncle Gus and me swapping Stories.
Mavis loved to Cook with Sauces and always had extra for me.
Mom found out and was not pleased that I was eating up extra vitrals
that my Uncles needed to Survive.
My Mom was a good Cook and she only Cooked Salmon in a Boiler of Water.
Put it out by the Wood Pile to Cool Off and would  keep a watchful eye so Ryan’s Dog
would not take off with it.It was known to happen. That dog was a real warrior for Fresh fish from a Boiler.Mavis baked Salmon and used a White Sauce.
Red Pasta Sauce with Baked Rabbitt
Mavis had a Daughter my age and she tried matching us up.Even gave me a two dollar Bill to take her to the Chip Stand.I was too shy for dates at 14.
I spent the two bucks and Joan met my friend Gene shortly after. So that solved that problem.
All things must end and so did Uncle Dick and Mavis. They parted ways.
I always remember the funny stories.Listening to Loretta and Ms Kitty Wells  on the 8-Track Player. We met in passing a short time later. She was dating a Man named Ray with Rat’s Eyes,Dog’s Teeth and a Parrot Nose. Her words not mine.
Mavis is dancing in that Great White Sock Hop in the Sky  now and probably exchanging one-liners with St Peter and not Father Peter. His SaintHood is coming.
