I really like your magazine – great pictures! And when I finish I give it to new neighbours who are from NL – I’m also an islander – displaced – from PEI! I finally got to NL last summer & enjoyed each minute. Our guide was teriffic & knew lots of trips (we were with senior tours-Canada). My son used to fly with Air Nova & loved your province – even could do an accent! I thought I’d send you a poem I wrote near Christmas.

P.S. When I was a young newly graduated nurse I dreamed of working with the Grenfell mission – but I fell in love and got married instead!

P.P.S. My grandmother quoted Page 39 (Irish Luck) verbatim and I grew up with these stories about luck in my heart!!

Twas the week before Christmas
And all through the “hood”
People were rushing, trying to do good
Ontario Hydro oh wonderous one
Cut the power, alas it was done
The Hours went by, the clocks were awry
The house got cooler, what could we try?
Donning jackets and long johns
I tried to keep warm
Calls to the furnace people went on and on
The next day to my chagrin
The year old furnace alone had cut in;
The technician was friendly
He assured me the furnace was okay
All I can end with – egad what a day!
