T’was the Night Before Christmas

T’was the Night Before Christmas

T'was the night before Christmas, Nicole was in bed
and I had just staggered, in from the shed
the milk glass was empty, no cookies or cake
so I knew he had been here, there was no mistake

I stumbled to the kitchen, to look for a munch
found French fries and pork chops, left over from lunch
as I sat to the table, from the room came a noise
I heard giggling and laughter, and sounds of sweet joys

I sprang to my feet, and ran down the hall
when I got to the bedroom, couldn't believe what I saw
there was Nicki and Santa, and the ol' mistletoe
I just stared in amazement, what a sight to behold

Neither one saw me, as I stood at the door
It was then I decided, to even the score
I dashed to the rooftop, cause I knew what was there
climbed into his sleigh, with my two-four of beer

On Dancer, on Prancer, we took to the sky
and delivered the gifts, to each girl and boy
from rooftop to rooftop, we made record time
I travelled the world, didn't cost me a dime

Last stop, Newfoundland, at a club called Four Winds
I thought I'd stop in, have a drink with my friends
at two in the morning, as drunk as a fool
on Dancer, on Prancer, head for the North Pole

Oh what a smooth landing, on Santa's front lawn
the reindeer were tired, in the cold morning dawn
off to the stable, for a well deserved rest
and now Mrs. Claus would be put to the test

Hanging there on the wall, one of Santa's spare suits
I quickly jumped in it, and pulled on my boots
as I peered in the window, on the couch she did lay
now was revenge time, it was my turn to play

Then all of a sudden, the alarm clock did scream
I awoke from my sleep, it had all been a dream
boy I felt foolish, like some kind of jerk
and all I could do, was get ready for work

Now there's one thing for certain, I know it is true
there's really a Santa, I can prove it to you
cause when I went to the kitchen, next morning at dawn
the milk glass was empty, and the cookies were gone

So now my story has come to an end
good wishes and joy, to you I do send
may the new year bring happiness, peace and delight
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night   Submitted By: Gordon Pennell
